In need of Professional Oil Change Service?

One of your responsibilities as a car owner is to make sure that your vehicle is running well. This is why it is important for you to regularly have your car’s oil changed. Why? Just think of your car as a body that needs nourishment. Instead of proper blood functions that pump blood to the heart, the oil will be the one to make sure that all the systems are properly lubricated and are working in perfect harmony with each other. The engine oil also acts as a level of defense for your car. With a healthy level of it, your car will be better protected from all the external variables such as debris and dust.

Why Change Your Engine Oil?

The answer might seem obvious to most drivers, but not to all. So allow us to explain this to you. If you don’t change your engine oil, it will continue to bubble over and eventually get burned. When this happens, your oil will be nothing more than goo or sludge as others call it. The end result? The sludge will block your car’s mechanisms and cause it to malfunction.

Sounds like a nightmare to happen, right? Make sure that this does not happen to you and your car. Regularly checking your car’s engine oil is a good practice that every car owner should develop. Do not hesitate to call us and also, you are free to consult about our other services such as brake repair and car battery replacement.

How to Check Your Engine Oil

Regularly checking your engine oil’s level is one practice that you should always do. A periodical check-up might just save you money in the long run. How? Because once you see that your engine oil is starting to darken, you should be able to book an appointment with your mechanic to have it changed.

Not sure how to do this? Allow us to walk you through the process so you don’t have to go to your mechanic every time you check your engine oil levels.

What do you need: a simple rag to wipe your engine oil on.

Do you have your rag? Good. Let’s go ahead and get started.

First step: Wait for your engine oil to cool off. You don’t want hot engine oil to bubble over as you open your hood and peek inside the reservoir. This is why the best time to check your engine oil is in the morning when everything is nice and cool.

Second step: Park your car in an even surface. Accuracy is very important at this point so make sure that your car is not tilted upwards or downhill.

Third step: Pop open your hood.

Fourth step: Local where your oil dipstick is. Likely, you will see several that could indicate either your brake fluid or your engine oil fluid. For most, this is colored yellow stick that juts out with a key-like handle. Aside from that, we also offer other services such as auto electric repair and car AC repair.

Fifth step: Pull the dipstick up and wipe it clean with the rag that you have with you. This will give you a clean slate for which to check in. Once you have done that, go ahead and put the dipstick back down again to get a better feel of the level as well as the state of your engine oil.

Fifth step: See if the oil in your dipstick reaches the markers that tells you whether your oil level is at a maximum or minimum level. Your levels should be right smack at the middle of these two extremes. If the level indicates that it is at a minimum level, then it is time for you to schedule for an oil change.

Sixth step: Don’t forget to check the state of your engine oil too. See the rag that you just wiped your oil with. Notice the consistency of it and the color. If you rub it between your fingers, the color should be a nice warm color. However, if you notice a lighter consistency, then that might mean that your coolant has contaminated it. Likewise, if you notice as you rub your fingers together that there are grains of debris or particles in the oil, then this also means that you need to get it to a shop for a clean-up and change right away.

Think that this task is easy enough? We think so too. This is why we urge you to take the time off your busy schedule to regularly check your engine oil level and state. Trust us, this will save you a whole lot of trouble in the future.
